Greater Phoenix Sports Announces New Competitive Youth Basketball League
Phoenix, Ariz. – Greater Phoenix Sports will open a new competitive basketball league for teams in grades 4-8 beginning January 9, 2016. The new league will provide a new option for youth competitive basketball teams and clubs in the Greater Phoenix area and run under the name of Greater Phoenix Basketball or GPB.
"The landscape of competitive youth basketball in the Phoenix area is changing and we feel the time is right to start a new competitive league based on what is best for the players, coaches and their families." said Mark Machin, founder of Greater Phoenix Sports and Greater Phoenix Basketball. "There are many choices for our youth to participate in sports today and we are looking to separate our league from the others in a positive way. Greater Phoenix Basketball (GPB) is looking for highly organized programs and teams that share our purpose, vision and direction."
The Greater Phoenix Basketball Competitive League will kick off games in January 2016 and is designed for both current competitive teams as well as new and developmental caliber teams looking to play competitive basketball in the Greater Phoenix area.
The GPB league will be grade based and have D1 and D2 leagues for Boys 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades and girls 5th-6th and 7th-8th grades.
League games will begin January 2016 and the end of season tournament will be March 4-6, 2016. Games will be played on Saturdays from 9:00am - 8:00pm and Friday evening games will be available if interest.
January game dates are Jaanuary 9, 23 and 30, February game dates are February 6, 20 and 27 and playoffs will be March 4-6.
No Games will be played on MLK weekend or Presidenat's Day weekend.
Cost is $750 per team and there is No Admission or Door fees. All teams will play a 6 game league schedule and participate in the end of season tournament.

Our purpose is to provide a highly organized and well run youth competitive basketball league. We will provide the opportunity for youth to play basketball in a competitive environment for all levels of play. We will promote an atmosphere of good sportsmanship and fair play with the opportunity for growth of individual skills, team play and the true enjoyment of playing basketball.
Our vision is to focus on providing our youth with the rewarding opportunity of participating in competitive youth sports. We want to provide this opportunity to all players, coaches and parents to develop respect for all aspects of youth basketball including respect for teammates, coaches, opponents and officials. We hope that this participation will develop not only basketball skills but life skills as well.
Our direction is to promote the participation in basketball in a competitive setting while emphasizing fun and respect for the sport with the spirit of friendly competition for our athletes and their families.
